Back to School Night!

My baby is growing up.  It was so fun to go on a date with just Neeley to her back to school night.  She was so excited but a little nervous too.  Her teacher had sent her a letter to tell her all about school and included her blog address so we had looked at her blog and learned more about her before we got there.  Before it was time to go into the classrooms everyone met in the gym for a welcome meeting.  Neeley spotted her teacher from across the room and told me that she was excited because her teacher looked much nicer than she had appeared in her pictures.  We were both pleasantly surprised to see how large and cute her classroom is.  You could just feel Neeley's excitement and see how grown up and proud she was of her next adventure.  After leaving the back to school night we stopped and got some frozen yogurt together.  I can't believe how much you have grown and how fun you are to be around!

One Last Hurrah!

With school starting soon and the baby coming we thought we better get one last get away in this summer.  So off to our favorite place to visit: Las Vegas (you would think we would be sick of going there since living there but it is actually more fun now!)  We got to stay in the new Palazzo (compliments of the hotel!!) on the 37th floor.  We had a beautiful view of the Wynn and the golf course and the girls spent hours pretending to be reporters, reporting about all they saw down below.  Being on the 37th floor was really fun until the fire alarm rang at 3a.m.  I nearly had a heart attack with the shot of adrenalin I got from thinking about carrying my three little ones down 37 flights of stairs.  Luckily it stopped (the fire alarm, not the heart attack) before we woke up Kayla and Lilah to go.  Neeley of course was wide awake and freaked out too!

Anyway, we spent our time there at one of the 8 pools they have, shopping at the outlets and just relaxing in our room.  It was fun to just be together and not have a lot planned.
Oh, and what trip could be complete without a visit to In-N-Out Burger and a slurpee to beat the heat.  Lilah was not letting go of that for anything.  In fact, she slurped down every last drop!!

Little Ladies That Follow Me!

On being the Mother of a Little Girl
Author: Unknown
A careful woman I ought to be
a little lady follows me.
I do not dare to go astray
for fear she'll go the self same way.
Not once can I escape her eyes:
Whate'er she sees me do she tries.
Like me she says she's going to be,
that little lady who follows me.
I must remember as I go
through summer sun and winter snow.
I'm molding for years to be
that little lady who follows me.

A.O.K.ate

Finally got test results from the doctor today.  Antigens are still in my blood but no more than was there 5 weeks ago.  So Doc said it is a good sign.  Even if they start building up now we have "bought" enough time for her to develop.  They will just be keeping a close eye on me until the baby comes.  Huge sigh of relief for us!  We are so thankful!  Only real complications could come with any future pregnancies (huhhh, more???  Not likely!).  Thanks for the prayers!

Concerned about Kate.

I just got home from the doctor this morning and have a heavy mind today.  All of my pregnancies have been uneventful and perfect.  This one seems to have been going along just fine until I got a little scare from the doctor today.  I have A- blood type which has never been a big deal so far except for the few extra shots I get each pregnancy of Rogam (sp?) to keep my body from rejecting a baby if they have a positive blood type.  My last blood test showed a small (so small it was not measurable) amount of Antibodies in my blood that could indicate that my body has detected a different blood type.

Doctor says I should not be worried and that we should wait for the second test to come back to see what is really up, but how can you not worry.  Of course I came home right away and started googling to find out what this all could mean.  Best case, baby born jaundice.  Worst case babies red blood cells break down, stillborn, early birth, etc....  Why is it that it is so much easier to think the worst when you just don't know.  "Oh the troubles they have caused us, the evils that have never happened!" (written by someone smarter than me, obviously because I can't quote who it is)

So put a little extra prayer out there for us and baby Kate.  We could use them today!  And here's to positive thinking!!!

Cereal Obsession!

I confess. I have an obsession with cold cereal. I have always loved the stuff even since I was little. Only back then I chose the kind based on the toy in the box (found one of those the other day and got soooo excited, so did the girls) and now I choose it based on sugar content (or lack there of), fiber and protein. Funny how when you are a kid eating Cheerios without sugar would have been bad but now it is so yummy! My kids don't know what adding sugar is, thank goodness! As you can see by the picture, our house is well stocked with the food of the Gods! Only thing is, Neeley just wants toast for breakfast and Kayla loves her oatmeal. I guess that just leaves more for me for breakfast, lunch and dinner. But the milk must be double the amount of the cereal and really cold and I have to eat it with a big spoon so every bite has lots of milk. So there you have it, one of my weird vices I have kept quiet for so long!

Back to School!

Growing up my favorite time of year was back to school time.  I just loved to go school shopping with my mom and sisters where we would spend hours putting together just the right outfits.  We had to go to every store in town and my mom made us try on everything we saw (you just never know how it will look if you just see it on the hanger).  She was always so patient with us and knew how to make us feel so special.  Even though I came from a large family my parents always managed to give each of us a generous budget we could spend on what we wanted.

Naturally, with this background, I love to pass this fun on to my kids.  Last weekend we took a shopping trip to Park City where we hunted for the cutest bargains around.  Neeley and Kayla loved the attention and Lilah, she just held out for the treat in the end.  Kayla just loves everything you show her and loves to try stuff on. Neeley on the other hand is a little more picky.  Plain items that don't include bling and frills are just too plain for her.  And if you find something she kind of likes she really is afraid to leave the store without it for fear she won't find any better.  As for Jeremy, he is the best of us all.  He has just the right eye to know what everyone will like!  I even came away with a surprise pair of shoes that he found on his way to get the car!
