Race Track!

Since Christmas, our kitchen has become the local racetrack.  The girls have gotten really good at steering their plasma cars around the obstacles in the kitchen.  When the cousins were here to stay they had a few near misses with Lilah so Shelby decided to take her along for a ride!

The Best Lunch I Ever Had!

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with carrots and apples!

We have been trying to teach our kids to be more independent and help around the house.  I have been preparing Neeley for months that soon she could learn to make a sandwich.  She just couldn't wait to get started and finally the day came, we had our first lesson.  Then it was dry run time.  I asked her if she could make lunch while I ran up and had a shower (Now that is what I call multi-tasking!).  To my pleasant surprise, I came down to lunch on the table.  Can I just say it really did taste like heaven.  With her vacuuming the upstairs, taking out the trash and now making lunch I am catching a glimpse of what this is all about.  Now on to babysitting....  (I can dream!)

Tucking Neeley in.

Tonight as I was tucking Neeley in we were having a real heart to heart talk about life.  She wanted to know how I found Daddy so I told her all about how we met.  But she just kept asking, "But how did you FIND Daddy?"  Tough concept for a 5 year old!  So I started talking about how she might meet her handsome prince and that led us to imagining what her life might be like when she gets married.  Here are a few of her unprompted answers.

Neeley's husband will have light brown hair (brushed back but NOT in a pony tail), green eyes and be the same height as Neeley with light skin.  He will drive a yellow truck and be a football player when he grows up.
Neeley will be Gabriella from High School Musical, a school teacher and a mom when she grows up.  She will drive an SUV that is the same color as the lid of a soup can.  She will shop at the mall to buy shirts for her husband for Christmas.  She will meet her husband at a football game or maybe a bowling alley (not sure I like this guy??).

Together they will have 5 kids, 3 girls and 2 boys named Courtney, Katelynn, Grace, Tim and Jerald.  They will live in West Point.

Happy Birthday Lilah!

Lilah, you bring so much joy into our home!  Your little laugh, your explorations, your dancing and your sweet little cry.  We couldn't imagine life without you!

You have started to walk with your little push toy you got from Santa.  You now have 4 teeth and just ate peanut butter for the first time.  You weigh about 19 pounds and come to just above my knees.  Exploring is your specialty.  As we speak you are upstairs trying to get into something you shouldn't like the toilet or sisters' barbies!  So much has happened in your little life this year, but the world around you has changed too.

Here are a few things we experience in the world this year:
Milk $2.00 a gallon
Gas $4.20 to $1.32 who know what price is next!
An economic recession.
Summer Olympics in China.
Michael Phelps, an American olympic swimmer, has won a career record of 14 gold medals.
Barrack Obama was elected President.
University of Utah is the only undefeated team in college football this year (to date).
