Slice of Heaven on Earth
On our third date, Jeremy introduced me to heaven on earth. Back then "Heaven" was a grassy lot right on the bank of the cub river with an old trailer on it. Since then Grandpa Bruce has transformed it into an oasis! Jeremy introduced me to the lot with a day of fishing and relaxation. As I was falling in love with him, I also fell in love with "the Lot!" Each year Bruce has diligently searched the D.I. thrift store for wood, doors, windows, insulation and anything else you can think of to build the lot and all of its surroundings. Really what he has done is amazing. Every detail is thought of right down to the fishing rod curtain rods. Now its a cabin with several decks and a few years back he added the tree house complete with loft and crafting station with a twisty slide to bring you down from it! His newest addition for this year is a snack shack complete with smores fixin' table and washing up station. Our girls can't wait to make our first trip of the season up each year. They love to play with cousins in the tree house, on the swing set, tree swing, go fishing with Dad, hop on the four wheelers for an adventure or take a hike to the waterfall. Summer just wouldn't be summer without a good trip to the lot topped off with a gooey smore!
What fun is!
Every year it is our tradition to visit Lagoon one day with my family and another with Jeremy's. The kids love to go all season but love it the most on these days. Often this is the time when we can convince one of our girls to hop on a ride they have never been on just because their cousin is going on it. Gotta love peer pressure and traditions!
Reunions
While growing up we lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico most of the time. My parents extended families all still lived in Utah. Because of this I only got to see my cousins occasionally and my family would tease me that I could never name them all. I may not be able to name them all in order by family now, but I do know their names when I see them. I don't feel so bad about being teased because every time we all get together someone fails to recognize me. This summer we had the opportunity to all get together with my Mom's side of the family for a reunion. It was fun to see everyone again and see how their kids have grown. This time I was mistaken as a new bride of one of my cousins kids. Flattered I guess is the word for this! My kids had fun getting acquainted with all of their second cousins and we stayed till dark visiting and having fun.
