The first, first, first Day

Ever since Neeley entered kindergarten we had put her name in the Lottery to get her into the charter school.  But every year we never got in.  This year seemed to be the same.  School was going to start next week and the girls were ready.  We had taken them school shopping and had bought tons of cute outfits for them to start school in.  That is why we were completely surprised to get the call that Kayla, not Neeley, was accepted into the Arts Academy.  And to make things even more hectic school started the next day!  Drama ensued.  Neeley cried because she didn't get in and Kayla cried because she didn't want to go to school alone, and I nearly cried because we had already bought school cloths and Kayla now needed uniforms!  To calm Kayla's fears and help make our decision we went over to the school to check it out.  We met with the principal and Kayla still wasn't convinced.  Then we met with Kayla's teacher and she was ready to move.  Her teacher was so dynamic and fun Kayla became excited about the new school.  Luckily we had a friend we could borrow a uniform from so we didn't have to worry about that right away.  Kayla had a wonderful day of firsts.  First to go to this school, first day, and first grade.  She came home all smiles.  And Neeley, well she faked one.
